Privacy Policy

1. Accountability

The Privacy Officer of Rural on Purpose is Danny Costello.  All Privacy Inquiries can be made to Danny Costello by emailing him at danny@ruralonpurpose.com

2. Identifying Purposes

The information we collect is used for communication with regards to the specific event for which we have collected it. During the course of communication or at the event you will be given the opportunity to sign up for news and other offers that are being put forward by Rural on Purpose. Every email sent out by Rural on Purpose allows a user to unsubscribe from a single email list or all email lists in compliance with the Can-Spam Act. 

3. Consent

3.1 Events

Signing up to an event creates implied consent that you want to receive further news of the event, handouts, timing, workbooks etc. As always you can opt out of these emails by unsubscribing from the lists at the bottom of each email.  We will not email event users who have not signed up to our other newsletter with marketing or informational email. 

3.2 Newsletters and the Main Page

By registering to our main page or various newsletters, you are providing consent for us to email you with informational emails. From time to time, we may make other offers related specifically to Rural on Purpose programs.  

4. Limiting Collection

The collection of personal information is limited to that which is needed for the purposes identified by the organization. 

5. Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention

Our PII data is never shared except under legal obligations. 

Users that sign up for an event but do not wish to receive further emails will be deleted from our records no later than 90 days after the event. This 90 Day period allows users to receive any follow-up information from the event. Users who wish to have their emails deleted earlier may make a request to the privacy officer. 

Users of Rural on Purpose who wish to be removed from our email list may make a request to the privacy officer, or unsubscribe by clicking on the  unsubscribe link on any email. 

The minimum user data is shared with our other data processors for the specified purpose of an event or activity.

6. Accuracy

We endeavour to ensure our information is as up-to-date as possible.  If you would like to ensure the data held by us is accurate, an inquiry can be made to the privacy officer: danny@ruralonpurpose.com

7. Safeguards

Data is stored in an AWS cloud by ClickFunnels and is backed up regularly.  All access to the data is controlled via firewall and access control methods.  

8. Openness

This policy is publicly available. Should you have any questions or require clarification as to what data we hold, how it is held and what it is used for, please do not hesitate to contact the privacy officer: danny@ruralonpurpose.com

9. Individual Access

Upon receipt of a privacy request, the privacy officer shall validate the identification of the requester.  Upon successful identification of the individual, they will be informed of their PII data held by Rural on Purpose.  They may challenge the accuracy and completeness of that data.  Upon receiving the challenge to the accuracy/completeness of an individual user's data, the privacy officer will work with the individual to ensure that it is updated for both accuracy and completeness.

10. Challenging Compliance

According to PIPEDA:
An individual shall be able to challenge an organization’s compliance with the above principles. Their challenge should be addressed to the person accountable for the organization’s compliance with PIPEDA, usually their Chief Privacy Officer.
